September 27th saw the club hosting its second Laser Open. The weather gods smiled on us and a building breeze through the morning saw some excellent racing. The first race saw a close battle at the front with Rick Paxman finishing just ahead of Scott Edwards and Rob Laurie. With the tide still flooding strongly and a big shift to the right of the breeze, it was quite a tactical race with  lot of place changing throughout the fleet.

Due to the wind shift during the first race, the course and start line were adjusted for the second race and with a slight port bias on the line, the second start was hotly contested. The race officer’s fingers were itching on the recall flag, but the line was just all clear. Again, it proved a tactical race, but a broken traveller put Scott out of the race and Rick Paxman was once again at the front closely followed by Rob Laurie and Andy Everitt.

With a more settled gradient wind, the course stayed the same for the final race and Rob Laurie made it to the front early on in this race and held on for the win with Rick Paxman second and Andy Everitt once again third.
