Over the course of five years, Mark Ashley-Miller embarked on a
remarkable journey, sailing his yacht Good Dog 9,000 miles around
the British Isles. Along the way, he visited 310 harbours and
interviewed 256 Harbour Masters across the UK and Ireland. Through
these encounters, he met the dedicated and unassuming men and
women who ensure our harbours remain operational and our
seaways safe, while recording their compelling stories.
Having personally experienced depression, Mark used this voyage as
an opportunity to raise £30,000 for The Seafarers’ Charity, which
focuses on supporting the mental health of seafarers.
In his talk, Mark will share the challenges he faced while navigating
into every harbour in the British Isles and provide insights on how to
maximize the experience of circumnavigating the British Isles.
